Mission

Medievally Speaking encourages critical engagement with all investigations of and creative commentary on the continuing process of creating the Middle Ages, mostly with reviews and review essays, but also with interviews.  Medievally Speaking draws from a vast pool of international scholars dedicated to the multilingual and interdisciplinary negotiation of medievalia in postmedieval times. While medievalism as a term may have had its beginnings in the English-speaking world, scholarship on médiévalism, medievalismo, and Mediävalismus, to name only a few examples, demonstrates that the cultural phenomenon exists around the globe. Therefore, the scope of this site is global.
